Friday's Fabulous Finds

This week we bring you unforgettable entertainment that will make your guests feel in love, creating that oh so ever romantic mood, being fun and exciting yet relaxed.
I am sure you have heard her name though out the city of Vancouver...I introduce you to a Vancouver native and the very talented

At the very young age of 2, Jaclyn Guillou knew she had found one of her passions.  Once you hear her beautiful voice, you will be hooked and taken to a different land, which I like to call "Land of DayDream" and once you listen to her songs, you will understand what I mean.  Miss Guillou and her band will help you create the perfect ambiance for your guests to remember your wedding or event!  I have had the honor of Jaclyn Guillou share her amazing voice at some of my weddings, corporate events and private home events.  At the weddings, Jaclyn sang during the cocktail hour and dinner reception, which provided the perfect ambiance for guests to enjoy!

Jaclyn and her very talented band come prepared with everything, she will sit down with you and your planner before the event and ensure she understands your event clearly and plans accordingly ie) style of music, etc.

Here is what the Jazz community has to say about Jaclyn:

Guillou puts a slightly more organic contemporary jazz spin on music steeped in tradition and thus makes old school become new cool, the sign of a true artist.”
~ Critical Jazz

“An album that is so rich with dimension you need a pair of 3D glasses to listen to it.”
~!Earshot Magazine

“BC has produced another rising star, someone perhaps to follow in the footsteps of international jazz artist Diana Krall in the years to come.”
 ~ Review Vancouver

Visit her website and take a listen, the website not only lists her work but her latest music videos but also Jaclyn's upcoming shows.

Monday's Montage: Woodsy Wedding

There’s nothing I love more than a beautiful outdoor wedding. With this beautiful country we live in, and all that BC has to offer, a wedding in the woods is very feasible! Far from your camping experiences, picture this: delicate paper lanterns hanging from a wooded backdrop provided by Mother Nature. The sun streams through the trees just right as you and your hubby exchange vows in front of your family and friends, who are comfortably seated on quaint benches from oak trees…

Can you picture it? Stunning, right!?

Check out these nature-inspired ideas for an outdoor wedding that’s classy, not crunchy…

The pop of color and feathery design of this table give off an enchanted forest vibe

Ask a Planner... "A License to Marry?"

DreamGroup…

We are getting married this September and someone just said to us the other day that we need a marriage license!?! This is the first we have heard about this! Is this true? And if we do need one then where do we get it and how much does it cost?  Who would have guessed...

Thx!
Stephen

Hello Stephen,

Good questions!  First of all check out the handy dandy BC Government website for all the “Getting Married in BC” need to knows… http://www.vs.gov.bc.ca/marriage/  It offers tons of useful information as far as finding a marriage commissioner, obtaining a license, protocol for changing your name if desired, locations for a garden ceremony, etc.

To answer your questions…  Yes, everyone needs a license to be legally married in BC (but, not to have kids! I think they have that one totally backwards! lol).  It is super easy to obtain one though.  Simply walk into London Drugs at Broadway and Cambie (yup that's what I said London Drugs) and head to the insurance department (or see website above for other participating insurance offices near you).  The cost is $100.00 (No tax! Savour it as that doesn’t happen often!).  Only one of you need go, but it’s a smart idea to bring a piece of mail or I.D. belonging to your spouse to confirm proper spelling of names.  That's not mandatory, just helpful.  You can only pick up the license 0-3 months before the wedding so based on a September wedding you are good to pick it up anytime.  All the best with your wedding plans Stephen!
