Wedding Wednesday: Tip of the Week...

Need some wedding stationary inspiration?

Find ideas for your own stationary from Gourmet Invitations' chandelier themed invites. The thoughtful hanging of the chandelier from different angles with contrasting colours makes for a bold statement, and adds an element of interest and originality.

The playful, yet elegant idea stemmed from the Bride's desire to reflect the style of her wedding. Gourmet Invitations seamlessly incorporated the couple's amethyst accent colour and decorative chandelier design to create stationary that perfectly completes the wedding.

Prom Night...

On Saturday, March 26th the clocks were turned back to 1969! In celebration of Marianne's 60th birthday party DreamGroup Productions recreated Prom Night in the beautiful family home.

Guests were welcomed with boutonnieres & corsages at the door and as they entered the Prom they got to take their prom photo courtesy of Jeanie Ow to keep as mementos. Streamers, silver stars and pastel balloons set the scene, with popular tunes of the era played by Spin Doctor to complete the perfect prom night!

The beverage bar, provided by Lavish Liquid could be found in the glass atrium with a ceiling filled with multi-coloured balloons. As guests enjoyed drinks by the bar they were asked to fill out ballots to vote for the Prom King and Queen of the evening...

The birthday girl and her husband were crowned Prom King and Queen and celebrated the evening with friends and family, dancing the night away until the wee hours of the morning!

Wedding Wednesday: Tip of the Week

Escort cards share the same purpose of a seating chart: informing your guests where they will be sitting for your wedding reception. Choosing escort cards or a seating chart is really a matter of preference.

Simply include the name of your guest and the table name or number to where they have been assigned. Escort cards are displayed outside of the reception room at the entrance way; for efficiency, it is helpful to place the name cards in alphabetical order.

Escort cards can be displayed as tent cards in rows, attached to wedding favours, "sprouting" like fresh blooms, or however you decide to add some personal flair. Check out some custom cards below from the DG Boutique (and don't forget to take advantage of our special offer: 20% discount off your order by using coupon code Dream20). Get creative...

Incorporate "Your Song" into Your Wedding Day...

Found your perfect melody? Find inspiration in how you too can incorporate your song into your wedding celebration!

"We used Bruce Springsteen's 'If I Should Fall Behind.' We didn't think it would fit into our Catholic ceremony, but Dan surprised me by having it sung in the church just after we recited our vows. I was moved to tears"
- Melanie Barry

"'Your Love Gets Sweet,' by Finley Quaye. It's a reggae song about a love that grows MORE PASSIONATE over time. It was on the first CD we bought together as teenagers; when we hear it now, we remember that the fun and laughter from when our relationship started has never diminished but grown deeper."
- Sarita Role Schaffer

"Andrew surprised me by singing 'As,' by Stevie Wonder, and accompanying himself on a vintage electric piano. The song grew louder and funkier when the bridal party suddenly joined in as BACKUP SINGERS. Then, our 12-piece New Orleans brass band burst in!"
- Elinor Domol Diamond

How will you incorporate YOUR song?

Friday's Fabulous Find: Wood Fired Pizza!

Whistler Wood Fired Pizza Company is a great addition to any catered event! Hot, fresh pizza can be rolled out at Midnight after guests are getting their second wind, or made as a precursor to the catered event ahead.

To achieve a truly authentic Italian taste, Whistler Wood Fired Pizza uses imported Italian flour, organic tomato sauce and less than 5% virgin olive oil. Due to the high temperature of the oven, the Neapolitan, thin crust pizza can be cooked in under 90 seconds, from start to finish. With 3 pizzas cooking simultaneously, service to 200 people can easily be achieved in a short period of time.

Local products and toppings include: cheese, tomatoes, salsa, green (red, yellow, orange) peppers, red onions, pineapple, white mushrooms, pepperoni, cervelat salami, and black forest ham.

Check out Whistler Wood Fired Pizza at:
Function Junction (Wednesdays) in Whistler, running until April 6, 2011, or...
Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver's Winter Market (Saturdays), running until April 2, 2011.

Wedding Wednesday: Tip of the Week

Courtesy of "Ask Martha" from Martha Stewart Weddings...

Accessorize your hair for your wedding with a statement hair piece like a Fascinator. "Ask Martha" explains what exactly a fascinator is and how it can be the perfect pairing for your hair-do!

"Bigger than a barrette, a fascinator is a hair accessory that's worn to the side and is often made of feathers, flowers, or wisps of fabric. The fun, fanciful ornament is often embellished with crystals, beads, or loops of ribbon, and attaches via a comb or headband; some have a small , stiff, flat base that can be secured with bobby pins. Headpiece designer Maria Elena says, "A delicate fascinator allows a bride to embrace her femininity," but its look can be surprisingly versatile: It's especially striking when worn with a sleek updo, and romantic on soft waves - try it with the hair swept to one side and the hairpiece placed on the other. If you're pairing one with a veil, choose a birdcage style (nose or chin length) made of wide French netting and place the piece on top."

Check out the DG Boutique for some great fascinator options, and take advantage of our special offer: 20% off your order using the coupon code Dream20 (valid until May 9th).

How to Make the World a Better Place...

Compliments of Carrie & Danielle...

8 Simple Ways To Be Civilized And Kind That Could Make The World A Better Place

1. When you allow another driver or pedestrian to cut in front of you, isn’t it great to get The Wave? That simple hand gesture that says, thanks bud’, how cool of you to let me in.

2. When you take someone out or have them over for dinner, doesn’t it make you feel so appreciated when they give you a quick call or email the next day to acknowledge the treat?

3. A little “hello” or “g’day” when walking by someone on an otherwise empty sidewalk is so civil and sweet. (Ignoring each other in such close and fleeting proximity is dismally absurd.)

4. When a telemarketer calls, we try to resist the burning urge to be horribly rude (after all, they’re just trying to make a living.) Try this quickie: I appreciate that this is your job, but I’m not the right person for your questions, so I’m going to hang up now. Thank you anyway. Your simple kindness could renew their faith in humanity.

5. Personally, we like to receive voicemail messages that specify the reason that the person is calling. (When someone just says “Hi it’s So-and-So, can you give me a call back?” We wonder if we’re in trouble, or feel frustrated that we can’t move things forward in the mean time.)

6. How about just saying thanks when you leave the office, the gym, or class? It’s simple: See you tomorrow, thanks. There is always something to be thankful for.

7. Muster the love and courage to make eye contact with street peddlers—whether you’re giving them money or not. They feel invisible.

8. Spitting on the sidewalk is illegal in Switzerland. ‘Nuff said.
