Monday's Montage: Fun & Different Guest Book Ideas

Do you know where your wedding guest book is? Have you looked at it since your big day? My guess would be, probably not. I found some fun and different wedding guest book ideas that you may be more keen to display in your home. There are lots of ways to personalize your guest book to your wedding theme or to your personalities with photos, puzzles, decor and more.

Create and design a custom puzzle using a favorite photo or shape and have guests sign puzzle pieces.

Use 3D art and allow guest to sign, then frame and mount.

Guests write notes for the bride and groom which are placed in an antique bird cage for display in their home!

So different! Get a bench, a chair, a table, any piece of furniture and have guests sign it.

Guests write a personal message and place inside custom bottle.

My favorite!! Guests can write letters of advice or messages on post cards for the bride and groom. How cool would it be to have a different postcard from each place you've travelled together, or hope to go?

Thumbprints are very popular on paper right now, I like this different idea of using a painted piece of wood.

Monday's Montage - Creative Guestbooks

If you’ve ever read through someone’s guest book, you’ll notice that most of the entries are pretty repetitive.. “Congrats, we’re so happy for you!” "Best of luck!"  etc.. etc. Here are some more creative ideas for guest books that would be much more interesting to read through later!

#1. Wishing Tree. Put beautiful branches such as cherry blossom, manzanita, or magnolia branches in a vase. Make cards with ribbons attached and ask guests to write their well wishes or advice and hang the cards on the branches.

#2. Postcards/Mailbox. Provide postcards of the city where your wedding is held. Ask guests to sign the backs, then slip them into a mailbox. Perfect for a travel-themed wedding!

#3. Framed Poster. A very popular, and beautiful idea. Frame a nice picture of yourselves and have guests sign the mat with nice pens provided. Memories and a new piece of art to hang in your home!

#4. Fingerprints Tree. This is such a sweet and unique idea! Draw a tree with lots of empty branches on a poster, then put up a sign asking guests to “leaf” a fingerprint and sign their name. (Smart idea to have wet wipes near by for guests to clean up afterwards, can't have thumbprints on that white dress!!)

#5. Typewriter. A fun vintage typewriter can serve as decor, AND as guestbooks. Provide some direction, like asking guests to share some words of wisdom, and you’ll get more interesting responses.

#6. Polaroid Guestbook. A spin-off of the photobooth guestbook is to have guests take Polaroids of themselves, mount them in a book, and sign next to their photo.

Not only does the guest book serve as a fun, interactive activity for your guests, more importantly it's a time capsule of your friends a family who were there for you on your big day. It will mean so much in 50 years time when you are older and grey, still so madly in love, sitting on your couch together flipping through your guest book and reliving that day.

DreamGroup's Wedding Wednesday: Tip of the Week:

In lieu of the traditional, add a personal touch to your entrance way with a guestbook not expected by your friends and family. Rather than displaying blank pages bound in a simple book why not bring some originality by using your favourite childhood storybook or a fun, thematic coffee table book?

Ask guests to sign throughout the pages creating a memento you're sure to keep for years to come! It's a budget-friendly, conversation piece that will add some whimsy and fun to any wedding!

Friday's Fabulous Find: Family Tree Guestbook!

Recently, Associate Planner, Corinne Colledge had some very creative clients! Not only was their family tree guest book a fun twist on the traditional guest book, but it also provided their guests with a fun activity during the cocktail hour. An added bonus is that their tree now serves as a lasting keepsake for them as well!

Want to make your own Family Tree Guest Book? Start with an over sized print of your tree without guest names on it. Setup a few different stamp-pads. You can either do a range of colors that matches your wedding color or shades of green, mimicing natural leaves. Also set out a grouping of matching pens.

Leave a small sign asking guests to imprint their thumb onto a branch and use the pens to add their name to identify their thumbprint. Be sure to encourage randomness to make the final design organic and fun!

To keep the project tidy, provide a few "Magic Erasers" or a basket of small moist toilettes in easy to use individual packets.

If you're not the DIY type, check out The Etsy Shop by Lovliday - she offers signs and blank trees at a really great price! Enjoy!
