It only seems fitting in the month of February to highlight some fabulous date ideas for you and your Valentine to get out and explore all that Vancouver has to offer. Don't let just the singular day of Valentines ignite a creative, romantic day out!
Check out DreamGroup's Top Ten Date Ideas (in no particular order) that span the Lower Mainland and Whistler!
1. Nature's stair climber
If you haven't done it yet, get out of your 'dinner and a movie' rut and experience The Snowshoe Grind (better known as The Grouse Grind in the warmer months)! Don't feel intimidated, anyone who is reasonably fit can do the Snowshoe Grind! After you reach the Peak of Vancouver, get out of the cold and enjoy a meal at Altitudes Bistro!
2. Zip, Zip, Away!
Fly through winter scenery at speeds of up to 80km/hr at heights of 70m/200ft high! The zipline experience will give you a unique perspective of Grouse Mountain, combining heart-pounding thrills with an exploration of BC's old-growth forests. End this thrill ride with what will most likely be much needed drinks at Yaletown favourite George Lounge. Zip and sip with your sweetie!
3. Very Valentines
Looking for the perfect weekday date? Strap on some skates and loop around the outdoor skating rink in the heart of downtown in Robson Square. After a few triple axles (or tumbles) end the night on a sweet note with the last day of Vancouver's Hot Chocolate Festival, February 14th.
4. Light the Fuse on your Friday Night
Spend a night on the town and check out THE place for art, music and live performance in the city. On Friday, February 24th, check out Fuse at the Vancouver Art Gallery, where a blend of Art, Hip Hop and Aboriginal Culture take over!
5. Cozy up with Clownfish
The Vancouver Aquarium boasts over 70,000 animals from all over the world! Why not wander through the deep blue and immerse yourself in this dream-like world without submersing below sea-level! Finish off an afternoon amongst the fish with a sunset stroll along the sea wall.
6. Island Hop
A definite Vancouver gem is Granville Island. Spend a Saturday exploring the market, shopping amongst local artisans and watching boats sail by while dining at the scenic Bridges Restaurant.
7. For the Thrill-Seeking Duo
Not for the faint of heart! Before you "take the plunge" with your groom-to-be, literally take the leap at Whistler Bungee! Enjoy the postcard perfect backdrop as your wind up the seat-to-sky highway (and perhaps use this time to create some meditative mantras). Release those post-jump jitters with a relaxing stroll in Whistler Village.
8. Kayaking Cuties
What better way to see Vancouver then by paddling along its winding perimeter. Bundle up and take on a 2 hour Winter Paddling Tour at Deep Cove Kayak for an active afternoon. If you're already seasoned paddlers, simply rent a single or double kayak for some adventurous fun. Warm up after with lattes at Turtle Lounge Bistro and Coffeebar.
9. Steveston for Two
Load up your bikes and enjoy the waterfront at Steveston from two wheels. Garry Point Park is a 39 acre waterfront park in the mouth of the Fraser River and close to Steveston village with spectacular views and beaches. Finish this scenic route with freshly caught fish and chips at Pajo's!
10. Fort Langley
Feel as though you're stepped back in time when you wander through Fort Langley's charming streets. Strap on your shoes and venture into the beautiful trails. Take on the Fort to Fort trail for an afternoon immersed in nature. Rest up at the quaint Wendel's Cafe and Bookstore for some good eats and hard-to-find reads.
Happy Valentines!
We promise to inspire, inform & indulge!
